PronProf teaches pronunciation and listening in Chicago, one-on-one or one-on-two.

I am a clinical assistant professor and the English as a Second Language Coordinator at Northwestern University School of Law, but this service has no connection to the university. I have a Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and a JD degree as well. I have spent the last 25 years teaching English as a second language, primarily to students from Japan, China, and east Asia in general. Since 2005, I have been offering a popular course in pronunciation and listening to Northwestern Law international students.

For you, I will teach a sequence of 18 lessons in advanced pronunciation and listening, ideally over a span of 9 weeks. The lessons will focus on discrete rather than 'holistic' pronunciation, and on you and your specific difficulties. Each lesson is only about 15-20 minutes long (it is not productive to make such intense lessons any longer). One-on-two lessons are 25-30 minutes long. There is easy and simple homework.

Since the lessons are so short, it would be best to meet on a weekday at your office or in a quiet place in Streeterville, at lunchtime or shortly after 5 p.m. Lessons in the Loop also might be possible, as well as lessons during the weekend (I live in the Lakeview / Lincoln Park area).

We can begin anytime.

The best way to contact me is at my e-mail address, pronprof(ATsymbol)yahoo(DOT)com. I'm also happy to speak with you over the telephone, 1-773-793-3523.
